JUBILEE CENTRE
Saturday, 1 December 2018
Last Saturday was the first day of our project. The coordinator from Iceland and Germany went to Cambridge to meet Professor Kristján Kristjánsson, the Deputy Director of the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at University of Birmingham.
Kristján Kristjánsson’s research orientation can best be summed up as that of Aristotle-inspired philosophical scrutiny of theories in educational psychology and values education, with special emphasis on the notions of character and virtuous emotions. He has written extensively on themes in general education, moral education, educational psychology, moral philosophy and political philosophy, and sees himself essentially as a bridge-builder between philosophy and social science.
During the meeting they had the opportunity to get advice about how the structure and start the project, pointing out practical advices, what to avoid and what to highlight during the first months of the project. For the future, the Jubilee Centre will support and supervise the project with material and some guidelines which will be essential for our project.
